The Northwest Indiana Contractors Association (NWICA) is a trade association of construction companies working in the commercial, industrial, heavy and highway, public works, and institutional markets in Northwest Indiana. The Northwest Indiana Contractors Association is composed of two different types of members – Regular Members and Associate Members. Regular members are contractors, industrial or commercial, who employ at least one of the crafts for which the Association holds the bargaining rights. Associate members are vendors that service the Professional Contractors of Northwest Indiana.

The Association was formed in 2006 by the merger of two of the region’s most prominent contractor associations, the Calumet Builders Association and the Industrial Contractors and Builders Association of Indiana, Inc.

All contractor members of the Association employ craftspeople from the various building construction trades in Northwest Indiana. The NWI Contractors Association also has within its membership associate firms that work closely with the region’s contractors in the region.

The NWI Contractors Association negotiates labor agreements with seven building trade groups in Northwest Indiana. Those skilled trade groups are the Carpenters, Cement Masons, Ironworkrs, Laborers, Operating Engineers, Construction Teamsters, and Technical Engineers.

The labor contracts negotiated by the Association are utilized by over 500 professional contractors working in the Northwest Indiana region.

The Association also appoints trustees to the pension, health and welfare, and apprenticeship funds for the building trades with which it negotiates. In addition, the Association appoints management representatives to grievance panels to hear and rule on grievances filed under the contracts the Association negotiates. The Association also appoints the members of the Board for the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana (CAF).

The Association holds meetings monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. During these meetings, the members discuss a wide variety of issues important to the construction industry of Northwest Indiana. Many of these issues relate to labor relation matters.
